Asian Games 2026: India's updated schedule for Day 4 (September 23)

Equestrian, shooting and weightlifting will provide medal opportunities on Day 4

The Asian Games 2026 are set to enter Day 4, with the opening three days having produced plenty of action and medal success for India. The Indian contingent has already secured seven medals, with several more medal opportunities on the horizon.

So far, shooting has been the most successful sport in this edition, having delivered five of the six medals the nation has won. With four silver medals and a bronze already secured, India’s impressive haul underlines the country’s growing stature and continued rise on the international stage in the sport.

A couple of other sports have contributed to India’s medal tally — mixed martial arts (MMA), which is making its Asian Games debut at this edition. Suchika Tariyal secured a historic bronze medal for India in the sport. Also, the Indian women’s cricket team successfully defended its gold medal.

Unfortunately, on the men’s side in this sport, Varun Sanyal bowed out without even competing due to being declared medically unfit.

On Day 4, India will once again be in action across multiple sporting disciplines. However, the spotlight will be firmly on equestrian, shooting and weightlifting, with medal events scheduled in all three sports and the Indian contingent aiming to add further medals to its growing tally.

In equestrian, the Cross Country Eventing in both team and individual provides medal opportunities for India, with six Indians to be in action.

In shooting, the Indian contingent will feature in three medal events: the women’s 10m air pistol team final, where Manu Bhaker will be in action, as well as the men’s and women’s skeet team finals.

Weightlifting will also offer two medal opportunities, with Mirabai Chanu set to compete in the women’s 49kg final, alongside the women’s 53kg final. Beyond these events, Indian athletes will also be in action across swimming, boxing, fencing, hockey, kabaddi, sepak takraw and table tennis.
