Asian Games 2026: India's updated schedule for Day 8 (September 27)

Athletics, squash and weightlifting are among the sports that offer medal opportunities on Day 8

The action at the Asian Games 2026 continues to gather momentum as the continental showpiece enters its decisive phase. Sunday, September 27, will mark Day 8 of the competition, with the Indian contingent set for another eventful day in Aichi-Nagoya.

India have collected 27 medals so far, including four golds, with several podium finishes coming on Friday, September 26. Both the Indian men’s and women’s kabaddi teams defeated Iran to successfully defend their respective Asian Games titles.

Among the other highlights, Sawan Barwal secured silver in the men’s marathon, while shooting added its 11th medal of the campaign. Ashi Chouksey, Tilottama Sen and Vidarsa Vinod combined to win silver in the women’s 50m rifle three-position team event.

India also added a squash medal, with Velavan Senthilkumar and Joshna Chinappa settling for bronze in the mixed doubles.

Looking ahead to Day 8, the Indian contingent will have further opportunities to add to its medal tally, with athletics, squash and weightlifting among the key disciplines to watch. Action will also unfold in other disciplines like surfing, sepak takraw, kurash, fencing, volleyball and hockey.
