After a span of one day, the Diamond League action shifts from Lausanne to Stockholm at the Stockholm Diamond League 2023. The seventh leg of Diamond League 2023 is all set to kick off at Stockholm Olympic stadium in Stockholm, Sweden on July 2, 2023. The seventh edition of the competition is set to feature India's Avinash Sable (men's 3000m steeplechase), reigning Olympic champion champion Soufiane El Bakkali and Kenya's Abraham Kibiwot to name a few.
This will be Avinash Sable's second Diamond League appearance this season after taking part in the Rabat Diamond League, where he finished 10th. The Commonwealth Games 2022 silver-medallist clocked a below par timing of 8.17:18 to finish 10th. Before his short stint in Rabat, Sable broke the National Record in 5000m by clocking 13:19.30 in USA. Ahead of the World Championships and Asian Games, the 28-year-old has been training in Colorado Springs in the USA for the past few months.
Due to his stint in USA, Avinash missed the Inter-States Athletics Championships and is also not included in the squad for Asian Athletics Championships, which is set to be held in Bangkok, Thailand.
