Neeraj Chopra will be back in action for the first time since the Glasgow Commonwealth Games when he takes the field at Lausanne Diamond League 2026.

Chopra, who clinched silver at the 2026 CWG, will be in action in the Diamond League for only the second time this season. His first was in Doha, where the two-time Olympic medallist finished fourth with a best attempt of 85.69m. That was Chopra’s first event of the season after a long injury layoff.

The only other event that Chopra has competed in this year was the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. He finished with silver there with a season-best throw of 85.83m, coming second best to Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Pathirage, who bagged a historic gold.

Pathirage will also be among the favourites in Lausanne alongside the likes of reigning world champion Keshorn Walcott, Anderson Peters and Jakub Vadlejch.

For Chopra, though, the Athletissima has been a happy hunting ground. He won here in 2022 & 2023 with a best throw of 89.08m and 87.66m respectively while also finishing as the runner-up in 2024 with 89.49m.

When will men’s javelin throw event start at the Lausanne Diamond League 2026?

The men’s javelin throw is scheduled to start at 8:22 pm local time (11:52 pm in India).

Who will be Neeraj Chopra’s competitors in the men’s javelin throw at Lausanne Diamond League 2026?

CWG champion Rumesh Pathirage of Sri Lanka, reigning world champion Keshorn Walcott, Anderson Peters, veteran Jakub Vadlejch and Curtis Thompson will also participate in a competitive field.

What is Neeraj Chopra’s season best throw?

Chopra’s season best throw is 85.83m, which won him silver at the 2026 CWG.
