The women's doubles pair Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand also exited the event due to injury.

PV Sindhu, HS Prannoy and the men's doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty advanced to the Badminton Asia Championships 2023 quarter-finals, but Kidambi Srikanth bowed out despite putting up a tough fight against fourth-seeded Japanese Kodai Naraoka in the R16 stage. The mixed doubles pair Rohan Kapoor/Sikki Reddy also progressed to the last eight stage after being given a walkover.

After an eventful second day at the Badminton Asia Championships, India had a good start to the third day with Rohan Kapoor and Sikki Reddy being given a walkover. The mixed doubles pair is just one match away from winning a medal and creating history. The other mixed doubles pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and Sumeeth Reddy put up a decent fight but lost in straight sets.

In the women’s doubles, Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand gave a walkover and walked out of the tournament in the pre-quarterfinals. BAI (Badminton Association of India) on their social media handle said that the pair withdrew due to injury. The pair will have a bigger role to play at the Sudirman Cup next month and probably are resting themselves to get back to full fitness.

PV Sindhu played like a champion player and also got back to her previous best by defeating WR 9 Han Yue in straight sets. The Indian number 1 and 2022 bronze medallist is set to take on second seed An Se Young for a place in the semi-finals (and her second consecutive medal at the Badminton Asia Championships).

HS Prannoy and the Indian men’s doubles pair Satwik-Chirag notched up easy victories in the men’s singles and men’s doubles section respectively. PV Sindhu was the lone shuttler to medal in the previous edition and this time India has high chance of bettering the previous medals tally.
