Indonesia Open 2023: HS Prannoy, Satwik/Chirag progress to semi-finals

Kidambi Srikanth went down fighting to Li ShiFeng.
India's top seeds in men's singles and doubles respectively, HS Prannoy and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag progressed through to the semi-finals of the Indonesia Open 2023 (BWF 1000). WR 8 HS Prannoy defeated third seed Kodai Naraoka in straight games (21-18, 21-16) while "SatChi" defeated the top seed from Indonesia Fajar Alfian/Rian Ardianto (21-13, 21-13).
India's number two and former world number one Kidambi Srikanth lost to Chinese counterpart LI ShiFeng in three games (14-21, 21-14, 12-21). Li Shi Feng started the match on a bright note winning the opening game comfortably, but the Indian fought back hard in the second game to force a decider. Srikanth couldnt hold on to the momentum losing the third quite easily (12-21).
Men's doubles specialists SatChi has a smooth sailing to the semi-finals defeating the top seed. The last time the both pairs met was way back in 2019. After losing back-to-back opening round encounters (Thailand Open and Singapore Open) the Indian pair has come back strong to reach the semis. This will help them go up the rankings next week and also gain valuable Olympics ranking points.
Malaysia Masters winner HS Prannoy defeated favourite Kodai Naraoka in straight games. After a poor performance last week, the Indian contingent has bounced back strong with two teams entering the semi-finals.
