Men's Singles

Thailand Open champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn bowed out of the Singapore Open 2023 semis midway through his semi-final clash against Indonesia's Anthony Sinisuka Ginting after a shoulder injury. The Thailand star was trailing 1-6 in the final game when he stopped play and called quits. The match score finished 21-19, 11-21, 1-6 retired.

In the other semi-final clash in men's singles, Anders Antonsen fought back from a game down to beat third-seed Kodai Naraoka 19-21, 21-16, 21-17 and advanced to his first final of the season. Antonsen, whose last title came in 2020 at the BWF World Tour Finals, will eye his first-ever Singapore Open win.

Women's Singles

It was a familiar story in women's singles as it has throughout the season. The top four seeds made it to the semis and from there the top two seeds reached the final. Top seed and World No.1 Akane Yamaguchi beat China's Chen Yu Fei in three games (21-10, 18-21, 21-16) to reach the final.

In the other match, second-seed An Se Young stormed into her eighth straight final and seven consecutive on the BWF World Tour with a straight games win over the third-seeded Tai Tzu Ying. The Korean won the match 21-16, 21-14 to stay in contention for a fifth title this season. An Se Young and Akane Yamaguchi have met three times in the BWF World Tour finals this season. The Japanese lead the head-to-head record this season 2-1.
