Taipei Open 2023 Semi-Finals Summary

Men's Singles

Taipei's Su Li Yang upset fifth seed NG Ka Long Angus of Taiwan in straight games to advance to his maiden final in the BWF World Tour in his home tournament. The 21-year-old won the match in straight games (21-11, 21-15). In the other men's singles semi-final, Indonesia's Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo defeated Taipei's Wang Tzu Wei in straight games to make his second semi-final in the BWF World Tour this year. The 25-year-old beat Wang 21-6, 21-18 to advance.

Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo also made the Indonesia Masters 2023 final earlier this year but lost to compatriot Jonatan Christie 15-21, 13-21 to finish as the runners-up.

Women's Singles

Top-seed Tai Tzu Ying entered her maiden final of the year in the BWF World Tour acfter beating Thailand's Pornpicha Choeikeewong 21-12, 21-16 in the Taipei Open 2023 women's singles semi. The home favourite won the Asian Championships earlier this year by defeating Korea's An Se Young.

In the second women's singles semi-final, USA's Beiwen Zhang beat another Thai opponent Pitchamon Opatniputh 21-18, 21-15 to advance to the final. The Third seed will eye her second title in the BWF World Tour after her win in the 2018 India Open. She also made it to the Orleans Masters finals earlier this year but lost to Carolina Marin.
