The victory at the Korea Open 2023 marked Satwik and Chirag’s third BWF World Tour title victory and fourth title overall in 2023. This year, the Indian pair had previously emerged as the champion at the Swiss Open in March (Super 300), Badminton Asia Championships in April, and the Indonesia Open in June (Super 1000) titles.

With this, Satwik and Chirag became the second Indians to win the Korea Open title since PV Sindhu claimed it back in 2017. This was also the current World no. 3 pair’s third BWF World Tour Super 500 victory. They had previously won the Thailand Open in 2019 and India Open in 2022.

The performance of the Indian pair in the Korea Open 2023 was simply outstanding. They didn’t lose a single game in the tournament until the final. Earlier, Satwik and Chirag secured a comprehensive win over Japan’s Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi, the 2021 World Champions, by 21-14, 21-17 in the quarter-finals to advance into the semis.

In the final four stage, the Indian pair prevailed over the World no. 2 pair of Liang Weikeng/Wang Chang (21-15, 24-22) to secure a spot in the finals.
