Current edition is set to commence on August 21st

Badminton action after a two weeks break is back with BWF World Championships 2023. The tournament is scheduled to be held in Copenhagen, Denmark from August 21 to 27 with the world’s top players clashing amongst each other for the coveted world title. Few players across all five categories have withdrawn from the tournament citing different reasons.

Indonesia’s top seed and world rank 2 men’s singles player, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting had to unfortunately withdraw from BWF World Championships 2023 at the last moment with the passing away of his mother earlier this month. In his absence, Jonatan Christie is set to spearhead Indonesia’s challenge alongside Wardoyo.

Qi Xuefei of France is the only singles player to withdraw from the women’s singles contingent. The 31-year-old was set to face Yeo Jia Min of Singapore in the opening round.

In the doubles section, 12th seeds Choi Sol Gyu/Kim Won Ho and ninth seeds Benyapa Aimsaard/Nuntakarn Aimsaard are the only two pairs to withdraw before the start of the tournament in men’s and women’s doubles respectively. However, Kim Won Ho will pair up against Jeong Na Eun in the mixed doubles section.
