Lakshya Sen and Aakarshi Kashyap continue to remain India's number 2.
Asian Games 2023 champions Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty dropped four places to WR-5 in the latest BWF (Badminton World Federation) world rankings released on Tuesday (October 31st). The Indian men's doubles pair reached the top spot a week after winning gold at the Asiads and stayed in the position for a total of two weeks. After a small break, they returned back to the BWF World Tour but did not have a good outing as they lost in the pre-quarterfinals of French Open.
China's Liang Wei Kang and Wang Chang moved a place above to be crowned new World No.1. Other men's doubles paring of Vishnuvardhan Goud Panjala and Venkata Prasad Garaga continued to remain India's number 2 followed by MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila.
In the singles section, PV Sindhu remained stagnant in the 10th spot. After defeating Mariska Tunjung for the second time in as many weeks, Sindhu suffered an injury against Supanida Katethong in round 2. Meanwhile Aakarshi Kashyap, Ashmitha Chaliha, and Malvika Bansod retained their previous week rankings with all being inside top 50s.
World Championship medalist HS Prannoy continues to lead India's men's singles charge and remains static at WR-8. He has not participated in any of the BWF tour of European leg as he is recovering from a back injury sustained at Asian Games 2023. Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth had a sub-par outing in last week's French Open.
Fast emerging women's doubles pair of Ashwini Ponappa and Tanisha Crasto moved a spot down and are currently out of the top 30s. However they will have a chance to move ahead if they put up a good show at the BWF Hylo Open this week.
