Hylo Open 2023: Malvika Bansod through to quarterfinals, Mithun Manjunath exits

The Hylo Open 2023 is progressing towards the latter stages and India’s Malvika Bansod successfully advanced to the quarterfinals. She defeated Brazil’s Juliana Viana Vieira in three games in the women’s singles category.
The match commenced with a highly intense battle between the two players, as they sought to outshine each other right from the first game. The opening game was played until the 22nd point, at which point Mavika gained the advantage and emerged victorious with a scoreline of 22-20.
In the following game, Malvika Bansod, displayed a commanding performance, securing a victory over her opponent with a score of 21-10. Consequently, Malvika Bansod advanced to the quarter-final round of Hylo Open 2023, triumphing over her Brazilian adversary in straight games, all in a span of 35 minutes.
Later in the day, Mithun Manjunath was competing in the men’s Singles event. The Indian was up against the second seed Lee Cheuk Yiu of Hongkong. The match commenced with Lee displaying superiority in the opening game. Despite Mithun’s efforts to equalize the scoreline in the final moments, Lee already held a significant advantage, securing the first game with a score of 13-21.

In the second game, Mithun displayed improved resistance compared to the prior game. However, regrettably, he also suffered defeat in the second game with a score of 17-21, ultimately resulting in his loss in the overall match against his opponent. This outcome concludes his participation in the competition.
In tomorrow’s quarter-final match, Malvika Bansod, who is the only remaining Indian player in the tournament, will face Scotland’s Kirsty Gilmour.
