HS Prannoy, Lakshya Sen are among those who have pulled out.
In a significant development, top Indian shuttlers HS Prannoy and Lakshya Sen have withdrawn from the Syed Modi International 2023 tournament, that kicked off in Lucknow from Tuesday. The tournament will also miss the presence of Olympic medallist PV Sindhu, who is currently recovering from an injury.
Despite these setbacks, the men’s singles draw will see Kidambi Srikanth, Tokyo Olympian B Sai Praneeth, Indonesian Masters Super 100 winner Kiran George, and Orleans Masters Super 300 titleholder Priyanshu Rajawat.
The women’s singles category will feature a strong Indian contingent, including Malvika Bansod, Aakarshi Kashyap, Unnati Hooda, Anupama Upadhaya, Ashmita Chaliha, Tanya Hemanth, Tasnim Mir, and Ruthvika Shivani Gadde. The tournament promises to be a thrilling event despite the absence of some key players.
