The Chinese pair bowed out from the quarterfinals stage of the Malaysia Open 2024.
World number one mixed doubles pairing of Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong have reportedly withdrawn from the forthcoming India Open 2024. The pair, who bowed out from the quarterfinals stage of the ongoing Malaysia Open 2024, posted on their official Weibo accounts of their decision to withdraw from the upcoming tournament in India.
According to a tweet, the Chinese pair have pulled out from the India Open 2024 due to a health condition. With the Olympics around the corner, the Chinese duo has prioritised their health over participation in the India Open this time.
Zheng and Huang showed a lot of promise in the ongoing Malaysia Open. However, the duo’s journey was cut short by the spirited pair of Kim Won Ho/Jeong Na Eun from South Korea. Zheng and Huang were the three-time defending champions of the Malaysia Open. However, this time around the Korean challenge proved to be a bit too much for them.
Skipping the India Open means that the Chinese duo will most likely feature next on the Indonesia Masters which is scheduled from the 23rd of January.
Apart from Zheng and Huang, currently there has been no official confirmation of any other withdrawals from other shuttlers who from the India Open.

Zheng/Huang’s career in 2023
Zheng and Huang started the year as top seeds and three-time defending champions in the Malaysia Open. They defended their title without dropping a set throughout the tournament. However, a week later they bowed down to Yuta Watanabe and Arisa Higashino in the semis of the India Open.
Subsequently, in March, the pair of Zheng and Huang participated in the All England Open and were crowned champions for the second time in their career as a pair by beating the Korean pair Seo Seung-jae and Chae Yoo-Jung.
At the end of April, Zheng and Huang participated in the Asian Championships as defending champions and finished with a silver medal after losing to their younger compatriots Jiang Zhenbang and Wei Yaxin. This was followed by a successful Sudirman Cup where the Chinese team was crowned the champions.
The pair won their third Super 1000 title of the season in the Indonesia Open, defeating Watanabe and Higashino in straight games in the final.
In August, Zheng and Huang entered the World Championships as the top seeds and defending champions. Zheng reached his fifth final without dropping a single game. In the end, the duo had to bow down to Seo Seung-jae and Chae Yoo-Jung, a opponent whom they had not lost on 9 occasions in the past.
In December, Zheng achieved the honour of being the first shuttler ever to secure five mixed doubles titles at the World Tour Finals when he with his partner Huang Yaqiong defeated Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping.
