French Open 2024 faces setbacks as key players like Ng Tze Yong pull out due to injuries
The BWF French Open 2024, a tournament of the BWF Super 750 category, is poised to commence its proceedings from the 5th to the 10th of March at the Arena Porte de la Chapelle in Paris, France. With a substantial prize pool of USD 850,000, the event is anticipated to showcase exhilarating badminton matches and significantly influence the Road to Paris rankings list.
In a regrettable turn of events, Ng Tze Yong, Malaysia’s esteemed men’s singles competitor, announced his withdrawal due to a back ailment. The injury involving a spinal disc was incurred during the Badminton Asia Team Championships.
Despite initial optimism for recovery before the European circuit, the 23-year-old has opted for minor surgical intervention, necessitating a hiatus of two to six weeks. Currently 16th in the global rankings, Tze Yong’s absence casts uncertainty over his qualification prospects for the forthcoming Paris Olympics 2024.
