Toma Junior Popov will eye his first title at the Badminton European Championships while his opponent in the men’s singles final, compatriot Alex Lanier, will aim for a first-ever medal in the tournament. The 20-year-old, enjoying his best season on tour, has reached the summit clash for the first time while Popov finished with a silver in 2024 and was a bronze medallist in 2022.

In contrast, the women’s singles title clash will see two veterans go against each other for a maiden title. Both are former medallist in the competition, but the best Denmark’s Line Kjaersfeldt has achieved is two bronze medals, the last of which came seven years ago. The 30-year-old will be making her maiden final appearance at the Badminton European Championships.

Her opponent, Kirsty Gilmour has been a victim of Carolina Marin’s brilliance on four occasions, each time finishing with the runner-up medal. In her fifth final and with Marin absent, the 31-year-old Gilmour will eye the elusive gold.

The story is similar in men’s doubles, where both pairs have reached the summit match for the first time in their career. But the Popov brothers will count on their experience to clinch the title against compatriots Eloi Adam/Leo Rossi.
