The Japanese sensation won the Orleans Masters title earlier this season.
After a sensational run at the Swiss Open 2024, Tomoka Miyazaki, has entered the top 25 of women’s singles in the latest BWF world rankings released on Tuesday (March 26). Earlier this month, Miyazaki won the Orleans Masters, a Super 300 tournament, and followed up with the final finish at the BWF Swiss Open.
In a mere year, the 17-year-old has climbed an astounding 413 positions in the world rankings, from 438th to 25th. Her rise to under 30 was ignited by her victory over former World Champion PV Sindhu and her subsequent victory against Japan’s No. 2, Aya Ohori, at the 2024 Swiss Open.
While the Indian contingent continues to do well in some categories, Lakshya Sen’s strong performance in the All England Championships has secured his ranking at 13th in the men’s badminton circuit. After dropping to 25th in April 2022, Sen made a comeback to 11th in August before slipping to 20th earlier this year. However, his consecutive semi-final appearances in the French Open and All England have revived his hopes of Olympic success.
HS Prannoy, another Indian shuttler, holds the ninth position in the Paris race.
