Top five Indian badminton players who emerged in 2024

season 2024 saw the emergence of some top-notch young talent for India especially in women’s badminton.
The 2024 season saw several new talents in Indian badminton increasingly making their presence felt on the international scene. The historic gold medal at the Asia Team Championships in 2024, led by teen medalist Anmol Kharb showed the deepening talent pool in the women’s singles from India. This newer generation works out at world-class establishments like the Gopichand Academy, with a systematic back-up at a grassroots level that exhibits flexibility in the Indian badminton ecosystem.
The breakthrough performances of teenagers across international circuits, from Super 100 events to continental championships indicated India’s successful junior development program. Their achievements and particularly in defeating higher-ranked opponents are a promising sign for Indian badminton beyond established stars like PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal.
Anmol Kharb
Faridabad’s 16-year-old prodigy, Anmol Kharb, clinched three decisive victories at Asia Team Championships 2024 which led to India winning the tournament. Formerly national champion at 16, now reigning Belgian and Polish International winner, Kharb combines contemporary training with orthodox practice through conditioning influenced by boxing.

Tanvi Sharma
Punjab-born 15-year-old, Tanvi Sharma, makes mark at Gopichand Academy and was one of the key players in India’s historic Asia Team Championships triumph. The teenager has showed tactical maturity beyond years in crucial matches and developed under mother-coach’s guidance before joining elite training.
Anupama Upadhyaya
Anupama Upadhyaya, former junior world no. #1, stunned world no. #15 Beiwen Zhang at the China Masters 2024. Upadhyay has grown consistently. She is the national champion at 18, hailing from Almora and is known for her aggressive style and sprightly court coverage.

Tanvi Patri
A 13-year-old ambitious kid, Tanvi Patri, recently sealed the Asia under 15 title in China by defeating second seed from Vietnam in straight games. Formed a stature with groundwork trained in the Chinese training system, she has shown the potential for promising tactical awareness of just star.
Pranay Shettigar
Pranay Shettigar was a quarter-finalist at the Junior World Championships and recently defeated world No. #40 Wang Zhen Xing at the Odisha Open. Shettigar also bagged Bronze at Norwegian International which shows his international potential.
