2025 Malaysia Open champion Shi Yuqi has withdrawn from the tournament.
World No. #2 Shi Yuqi and no #5 seed Anthony Ginting had withdrawn from the India Open 2025, causing sweeping last-minute changes to the draw. Shi had exited barely one day away after he bagged the Malaysia Open crown after defeating Anders Antonsen in straight sets.
The restructuring men’s singles draw sees Paris Olympics medalist Lakshya Sen facing World No. #14 Lin Chun-Yi of Chinese Taipei in the first round. Indian shuttlers Kiran George and former world No. #1 Srikanth Kidambi have been promoted from the reserves list to the main draw.
The women’s singles event also saw a domino effect after the withdrawal of Busanan Ongbamrungphan. Double Olympic medalist PV Sindhu slides into Busanan’s place to face Shuo Yun Sung of Taipei while her original berth goes to Indian hope Rakshitha Sree Santosh Ramraj.
In doubles events, multiple withdrawals were also seen. They were the Japanese pair Kokona Ishikawa and Mio Konegawa, English pair Chloe Coney and Estelle van Leeuwen, and the Chinese-Taipei duo of Chun Hsun Teng and Chun Yun Yang.

This opens the field for Indian pairs Kavya Gupta-Radhika Sharma and Amrutha Pramuthesh-Sonali Singh to enter the main draw, alongside Thailand’s Phattharin Aiamvareesrisakul and Sarisa Janpeng.
Mixed double draw took the biggest hit when top seeds from China withdrew: Feng Yan Zhe and Huang Dong Ping. Indian duo Tarun Kona and Srikrishna Priya Kudaravalli was promoted to the main draw after the players withdrawal.
