All England Open 2025: All you need to know about prize money and points on offer

The tournament offers a massive prize pool of $1,450,000.
The All England Open 2025 is the seventh tournament of the 2025 BWF World Tour and is part of the All England Open championships, which have been held since 1899. Organized by Badminton England with sanction from the BWF, the event will run from March 11 to 16 at the Utilita Arena Birmingham, England.
The All England Open is the oldest badminton tournament and is considered badminton’s equivalent to the Grand Slam in tennis. Sydney H. Smith and Ethel Thomson are the inaugural men’s and women’s singles champions. Rudy Hartono and Judy Devlin remain the most successful players in singles history, with eight and ten titles, respectively.

India joined the ranks in 1980 with Prakash Padukone’s win, followed by Pullela Gopichand in 2001. In the Open era, starting in late 1979, Asian players, especially Chinese, dominated. Lin Dan’s six men’s singles titles exemplify this.
The 2025 edition will witness reigning champions Jonatan Christie, An Se-young, and the dynamic duo of Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong defend their titles but they have their task cut out due to fierce competition, including India’s emerging talents Lakshya Sen, the experienced PV Sindhu, and the formidable doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty.
As a super 1000 event, plenty of points are at stake, thereby grabbing the attention of most of the sport’s top stars from around the world. A lucrative prize pool has been announced this year, which, according to the Badminton World Tour, marks an increase of USD 150,000 from the previous edition.
