Japan Open 2026 Semi-finals Live Updates: PV Sindhu takes on Chen Yufei for a place in title match

Hello and welcome to Khel Now’s live blog for the PV Sindhu vs Chen Yufei semi-final match in Japan Open 2026. Please wait for the blog to load!

After receiving a walkover in the quarter-final, former World Champion PV Sindhu will face China’s Chen Yufei in the last four at Japan Open 2026. Sindhu advanced to the semis of the BWF Super 750 event after her opponent Nozomi Okuhara withdrew prior to the match due to an injury.

The walkover earned Sindhu, now 31, her first entry into the semi-final round at the Japan Open. This is the also the first time since the 2023 Denmark Open that Sindhu has reached the last four stage at any Super 750 event, underlining her resurgence since the start of the season.

Sindhu has now climbed to World No. 9 after initially starting the year at World No. 18 and will be playing her third semi-final of the season.

At the 2026 Japan Open, Sindhu is yet to drop a game. She started her campaign with a 21-14, 21-11 win over Wong Ling Ching of Malaysia before seeing off World No. 5 Han Yue 21-16, 21-14 in just 35 minutes.
