Several others, including top seeded Carolina Marin, has withdrawn from the tournament.
Title favourites in women’s singles at Madrid Spain Masters 2024
PV Sindhu
Undoubtedly after the withdrawal of Carolina Marin from the tournament, PV Sindhu who was previously second seeded in the women’s singles category will now be the top title contender in the tournament. Sindhu also finished as runners-up in the previous edition, which was also the last time she reached a final on Tour.
If we look at her present performance, she has faced some early exit from tournaments. Her best finish this year has been at the French Open where she entered the quarter-final round.
Tomoka Miyazaki
Japan’s Tomoka Miyazaki has been in great form in the recent past. The 17-years old has already won two BWF World Tour titles, which includes 2024 Orleans Masters. Just last week she stunned former world champion PV Sindhu and Aya Ohori in consecutive matches to reach the semifinals at the Swiss Open.
Miyazaki, who also entered the top #25 of women’s singles rankings on Tuesday, will surely look to continue her form at the Madrid Spain Masters 2024 and register some more upsets and maybe even lift the title.
Supanida Katethong
Thailand’s Supanida Katethong is another name in the contender’s list who has the potential to win the title at the Madrid Spain Masters 2024. Going by her performance in the recent past, Supanida has already been the runner-up in a BWF Super 300 tournament this year.
She came second best at the Thailand Masters, where she was defeated by Aya Ohori in the final. Moreover, she also has a BWF Super 300 title to her name which she achieved in 2023 at the US Open by defeating Gao Fangjie.
Pornpawee Chochuwong
The other Thai player in the list who is a title favourite at the tournament is Pornpawee Chochuwong. Currently ranked 16th in the BWF women’s singles ranking, Chochuwong has already won the Madrid Spain Masters in 2020 by defeating Carolina Marin.
Although she has been struggling a bit with her form in the current year, with her best finish being at the Swiss Open where she entered the quarter-final, she can be a big threat for her opponents on any day.

Kim Ga-eun
South Korea’s Kim Ga-eun also makes it to the list of favourites for winning the women’s single title at the event. Currently ranked 13th in the BWF Women’s singles category, Kim had a better outing on the court in 2023 compared to her previous years. She won one title at the Korea Masters and finished as the runner-up at the Australian Open.
It is evident that she is now struggling with form in the current year but has shown great fighting spirit at the Swiss Open. Players will surely keep an eye on her performance at the Madrid Spain Masters 2024, who could be a threat for their title run at any point of time.
