Jadumani Singh defeats Pakistan's Rehman to reach quarters at Commonwealth Games 2026

Jadumani is now just one win away from confirming a medal for India.
Indian boxer Jadumani Singh kept his unbeaten run alive at the Commonwealth Games 2026 on Sunday night, edging out Pakistan’s Sumama Rehman by a unanimous 5-0 verdict in the men’s 55kg Round of 16 at the SEC Centre.
The win sends the 22-year-old from Manipur through to the quarter-finals and keeps India’s medal hopes intact in the category. He began the bout with his usual cautious approach, converting chances every time holes opened up in his opponent’s stance.

In a closely contested and tough opener, the Indian edged past his opponent, with three of the five judges’ verdict going in his favour.
Round two is where things shifted. Jadumani began walking Rehman down, landing sharp counters while barely getting touched himself, and then came the moment that decided the bout: a clean shot that put Rehman down and brought the referee in for a count.
From there he just had to see it out, and he did, closing strong even as two judges still had it level heading into the final round. The Indian used his experience to emerge victorious in the end, and celebrated right in front of his rival after every match-winning blow.

Singh’s Round of 32 win over home favourite Aaron Cullen of Scotland was just as controlled, with his quick feet, and sharp combinations coming to the rescue whenever Cullen tried to close in, and a 5-0 scoreline delivered the story.
Fittingly, Sunday’s win over Rehman fell on Kargil Vijay Diwas, which gave the India-Pakistan clash an extra layer of meaning.
Earlier this evening, Preeti Pawar had her own moment, stopping Malawi’s Deborah Mtenje by RSC just past the two-minute mark of round two in the women’s 54kg, after sweeping round one on every card. She meets Northern Ireland’s Nicole Clyde in the quarters on July 28.
On Monday, Sachin Siwach faces England’s William Hewitt in the 60kg category, Ankush takes on Antigua and Barbuda’s Zalaan Jan in the 80kg bout, and Sakshi Chaudhary will clash against Botswana’s Lethabo Modukanele in the women’s 51kg.
