Watch: Lovlina Borgohain calls out incorrect India map at Glasgow restaurant after CWG win

Lovlina Borgohain finished with silver in women’s 75kg category at CWG

Lovlina Borgohain finished her Commonwealth Games 2026 campaign with her first-ever medal in the tournament, clinching silver in the women’s 75 kg event. The Indian pugilist suffered a split-decision defeat at the hands of Australia’s Emma-Sue Greentree.

However, the Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medallist won the hearts of Indian fans for her brave action during the team’s celebratory dinner at an Indian restaurant in Glasgow. The boxing contingent visited the “Mister Singh’s India – the Home of Curry” restaurant in the Scottish city.

Lovlina, however, took the opportunity to calmly express her disappointment at seeing an incorrect map of India displayed outside the restaurant and on the napkins.

“Please don’t take this the wrong way. I felt a little hurt by this. In the map of India, our North East is missing. Yes, even outside, the map that’s displayed has cut off the North East,” Lovlina said, as quoted by IANS. “As someone from the North East, that really hurts us. That’s all I wanted to say. Please keep this in mind next time. Thank you so much.”

Ajay Singh, President of the Boxing Federation of India (BFI), echoed similar sentiments, saying that the map also failed to show the correct boundaries of Jammu and Kashmir. He reportedly urged the restaurant management to replace the incorrect design with the correct version.

The restaurant management is yet to release a statement.
