3 bowlers who can replace Shivam Mavi in Lucknow Super Giants squad for IPL 2024
Lucknow Super Giants’ pacer Shivam Mavi has been ruled out of the IPL 2024 due to an injury.
Thursday came with a disappointing news for some of the fans. The star pacer Shivam Mavi, who has also played some games for India, has been ruled out of the ongoing IPL 2024 after an injury. He was bought by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the IPL 2024 auction for INR 6.4 crores.
Mavi didn’t play any games this season and will miss his second consecutive IPL edition. The Lucknow franchise has not announced his replacement yet, but they are likely to do so soon. Already, LSG have named Matt Henry as a replacement for David Willey. So we might see another new signing. They already have all slots booked for overseas players, so there can be an Indian pacer who can replace Mavi in their squad.
Here are three Indian pacers who can come in as replacement for Shivam Mavi in LSG squad for IPL 2024:
1. Siddharth Kaul
There are a number of uncapped Indian pacers that went unsold at the auction. But if LSG are looking for a pacer who has good IPL experience, then Siddharth Kaul is certainly a good choice. The 34-year-old made his IPL debut in 2013 and was a regular until 2022. But he has gone unsold in the last two seasons. He has played for KKR, DC, and SRH and even won the IPL in 2016 with the Sunrisers. In 55 games, he has taken 58 wickets and can be a good replacement to have.
2. Kamlesh Nagarkoti
One exciting uncapped pacer who can be another good choice is Kamlesh Nagarkoti. The 25-year-old is from the same batch as Shivam Mavi and has the ability to bowl quick. He missed last season due to injury and then went unsold at the IPL 2024 auction. He has played for KKR and DC in his IPL career. Nagarkoti has featured in 12 matches and taken five wickets. But he has matured as a bowler and LSG can target him as a backup bowler for the ongoing season.
3. Raj Limbani
The Indian U19 team made it to the finals of the most recent ICC U19 World Cup in South Africa, and Raj Limbani was one of the key members of that squad. He bowled quickly and took wickets with the new ball. His biggest weapon was to swing the ball with pace, which impressed many cricket pundits. Already, a couple of U19 stars from 2024 batch are playing in the IPL 2024, and Raj can also be a great asset for the team. He registered bowling figures of 3/38 in the finals of the U19 World Cup. Adding to that, he is also a capable lower-order hitter with the bat.
