Pakistan captain Shan Masood got out after scoring six runs off 11 balls in the first innings of the first test.
The first test between Pakistan and Bangladesh started with a four-hour delay due to wet outfield. The toss went in favour of Bangladesh and their captain Najmul Hossain Shanto elected to bowl first. It was a dream start for Bangladesh, as the visitors took three wickets for just 16 runs.
Former captain Babar Azam bagged a two-ball duck after captain Shan Masood was dismissed cheaply for six runs in a controversial decision from the third umpire, which irked the Pakistani skipper, leaving him fuming.
This incident took place on the fifth ball of the seventh over of Pakistan’s innings.
The replay showed that the ball touched the pad, and Shan Masood, who is generally very calm, was seen in anger.
Watch: Shan Masood shows anger after being given out by third umpire
The first hour of the first test between Pakistan and Bangladesh had many interesting moments, and one was the dismissal of Shan Masood. It was a length ball from left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam that nipped back in after pitching. Masood played a defensive shot but the ball passed between the small gap between his bat and pad while making a noise.
The on-field umpire gave Masood not out after which Bangladesh took the review. In the reply, the ball was shown to be passing between the pad and bat while seemingly brushing the pad. There was a slight gap between the bat and the ball when it touched the pad and the UltraEdge showed a spike. However, the third umpire deemed the spike because of an inside edge and gave Masood the marching orders.
The Pakistani captain was left in disbelief and stunned before he protested with the umpires. Masood fumed and uttered words as he walked off. Later, he sat on the dressing room balcony and watched the replays on the television. He animatedly showed the replays to the Pakistani coaching staff.
