Hobart Hurricanes beat Melbourne Renegades to record their second win of the BBL 15.

Match no. 8 of the Big Bash League (BBL) 15 saw a comprehensive win for the defending champion Hobart Hurricanes. They locked horns with Melbourne Renegades on Sunday at Simonds Stadium in Geelong. The Hurricanes won the toss and opted to bowl first.

After losing an early wicket, the Renegades had an important second-wicket stand of 62 runs between Tim Seifert (34 off 21) and Mohammad Rizwan (32 off 26). But as the partnership was broken at crucial juncture as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

The Renegades only managed a score of 145/9. Chris Jordan was the pick of the bowlers with his 4/19. Chasing the score, the Hurricanes also had a poor start, losing both openers cheaply.

But Nikhil Chaudhary played a blistering knock. He came in with an attacking mood and continued it until his team reached a dominating situation. He scored 79 off 38 balls, with seven fours and four sixes. Ben McDermott scored an unbeaten 49 off 33, as the Hurricanes reached chased the target in 13.5 overs to record a massive win.

After losing the previous game to Melbourne Star, the Hurricanes slipped to seventh spot on the table. But a big win on Sunday helped them jump to the top of the table with an NRR of +0.450. Melbourne Renegades were second before this game and have slipped to seventh spot.

Melbourne Stars, Sydney Sixers, and Perth Scorchers are placed second, third, and fourth. Adelaide Strikers and Brisbane Heat have two points each, and they are fifth and sixth. Sydney Thunder are yet to open their account, and they are last on the table.
