BBL 2023-24: Points table, most runs, most wickets, after Match 37, THU vs STR

Adelaide Strikers defeated Sydney Thunder at Manuka Oval in BBL 2023-24 league round.

Adelaide Strikers get a resounding win over Sydney Thunder at Manuka Oval in Canberra to make their grand entry into BBL 2023-24 playoffs. Captain Mathew Short played an unbeaten fifty-plus knock and led Strikers to their fourth consecutive victory of the season. Strikers’ leg-spinner Lloyd Pope and pacer Jamie Overton bowled magnificent spells and bowled out Thunder on just 140 runs total. Lloyd Pope picked up four wickets while Overton got three against Thunder.

Chasing 141, Adelaide Striker didn’t have a tough time. Captain Mathew Short and Jake Weatherald stitched a match-winning partnership of 84 runs for the win. Short scored 74 runs in 49 balls with four fours and four sixes. Weatherald also remained unbeaten on 47 runs. Left-hander smashed four huge sixes at Manuka Oval to entertain the crowd. Sydney Thunder have suffered their seventh loss of the season and they are currently at the bottom of the table with only one win in the season. Sydney Thunder opener David Warner scored only 13 runs in 10 balls.

BBL 2023-24: Points Table :

With a dominating win over Sydney Thunder, Adelaide Strikers have fixed their spot in the BBL 2023-24 playoffs. Two more points will be added to Strikers tally and they are currently placed fourth in the points table with 11 points in 10 games. Strikers had a poor start to the season but after four consecutive wins, they have managed to qualify for the playoffs. Sydney Thunder languishing at the bottom with only three points and one win. Brisbane Heat have 16 points in 10 games and are placed top of the table.

BBL 2023-24: Most Runs

Adelaide Strikers captain Mathew Short is widening the lead with his consistent performance in the BBL 2023-24. Short’s 74 run knock helped him remain the leading run-scorer with 509 runs. Strikers’ Chris Lynn is second on the table with 304 runs. Perth Scorchers’ Aaron Hardie is third on the table with 296 runs. Sydney Thunder opener Alex Hales made his entry in the top-5 list with his 43 runs knock on Sunday. Hales is fourth with 258 runs. Melbourne Renegades Jake Fraser-Mcgurk moved to fourth place with 257 runs.

Overton now jumps up to second place as the leading wicket-taker with 16 wickets. Perth Scorchers Lance Morris is third with 13 wickets. Brisbane Heat’s Paul Walter is fourth with 13 wickets. Perth Scorchers’ Jason Behrendorff is fifth on the leading wicket-takers table with 12 wickets in seven games.
