India won two ICC trophies in 2025.
2025 was a fantastic year for Indian Cricket, where both men’s and women’s teams won ICC titles. The Indian Cricket Team performed brilliantly in white-ball formats, winning tournaments such as the ICC Champions Trophy and the Asia Cup.
However, they could not replicate this form in the test, facing a clean sweep against South Africa at home. Batting legends like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Cheteshwar Pujara bid farewell to the test format this year. Moreover, Shubman Gill was appointed captain for both Test and ODI formats.
Additionally, a few youngsters made their mark in international cricket and cemented their spot in the national side. As the year 2025 comes to an end, let’s take a look at the top five best moments of Indian Cricket in 2025.
Indian Cricket’s best moments-
5. Rohit Sharma & Co. steal the ICC Champions Trophy 2025

In March, Rohit Sharma & Co. outplayed New Zealand in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Ahead of the tournament, India had suffered a humiliating defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 against Australia, which made it difficult for them to qualify for the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 final.
Therefore, winning the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 was a significant achievement for both the Indian players and their fans. Pakistan were the hosts of the tournament; however, India refused to play on their soil. As a result, all of India’s matches were scheduled in Dubai.
The Men in Blue were unbeaten in the tournament, winning five consecutive matches. In the final, they crushed New Zealand by four wickets, chasing down a 252-run target with a half-century by captain Sharma.
4. Royal Challengers Bengaluru won IPL 2025

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) scripted history in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 by winning their maiden title. Ahead of the tournament, Rajat Patidar was appointed as the new captain of the side. RCB had reached the final three times before, but lost the final match on each occasion.
This time, they left no stone unturned to capture the trophy. In the league stage, they finished in second place, with 19 points behind the table-toppers, Punjab Kings (PBKS). Crushing them by eight wickets in a one-sided affair in Qualifier 1, RCB booked a berth in the final.
Later, they outplayed PBKS once again in the summit clash by six runs to script their name in the record books.
This victory was a precious moment for Virat Kohli, who had represented RCB since the first season in 2008 but had failed to lead the team to an IPL title. His hunger was finally fulfilled in the 2025 edition, where he also played a crucial role in the team’s victory with his batting.
3. India won the 5th test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025

India commenced their journey in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle with a five-match series against England. Following the test retirement of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in May, India witnessed a new transition with youngster Shubman Gill taking over the reins of the test side.
While hosts England had an experienced unit for the series, India comprised many youngsters. Before the campaign, there was talk about England’s superiority over India in the series.
After the first four games, England gained a 2-1 lead in the series. India needed to win the final match at The Oval to draw the five-match series. The clash went to the final day, when Mohammed Siraj dismissed Gus Atkinson to propel India to victory by just six runs in a nail-biting clash.
Captain Gill played a prominent role in the team’s victory, scoring 754 runs across 10 innings with four centuries to break multiple batting records.
2. India crushed Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final

The Asia Cup 2025 was surrounded by controversy. To begin with, many fans and former cricketers opposed the BCCI’s decision to play against Pakistan in the tournament in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor.
Moreover, Indian players refused to shake hands with Pakistani players after the first clash made several headlines. Also, players from both sides engaged in verbal altercations during matches.
Both teams qualified for the final, which took place at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. In the encounter, India outplayed Pakistan by five wickets, crushing them for the third time in the tournament.
1. India outplayed South Africa in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025

Unarguably, India’s ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 triumph was the most amazing moment for fans this year. The Harmanpreet Kaur & Co. outplayed South Africa in the summit clash to win their first-ever ICC title.
At one stage, they were on the verge of getting eliminated. However, they bounced back with a huge victory against Australia Women in the semi-final, where they chased down the highest-ever ODI total.
In the final, they set up a powerful target of 299 runs for South Africa. Despite a marvellous century by Laura Wolvaardt, the Proteas failed to chase down the target. Deepti Sharma scored a stunning half-century and clinched a five-wicket haul to play a crucial role in the team’s victory.
