Australia lost their last test match at the Gabba against the West Indies.
The Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 stands at stimulating note with the series levelled at 1-1 after the first two tests.
India thumped Australia by 295 runs in the first test in Perth before the hosts stormed to a 10-wicket win in Adelaide.
Mitchell Starc and Travis Head were at their imperious best in the day-night test in Adelaide, while Marnus Labuschange shrugged off his poor form. Captain Pat Cummins bowled with heat throughout the match, bagging a five-for in India’s second innings, including castling India captain Rohit Sharma with an unplayable ball.
The third test of the series will be played at the Gabba in Brisbane. India have fond memories of their last encounter in Brisbane.
India scripted one of the most famous wins in test cricket history at this venue in 2021, defeating the hosts by three wickets on the last day of the match and breaching their fortress Gabba, where Australia hadn’t lost for 32 years.
Australia also suffered a defeat in Brisbane earlier this year, when the Shamar Joseph-inspired West Indies defeated the hosts by only eight runs in a day-night encounter.
Nonetheless, Australia have a staggering record at the Gabba in test cricket, which we will look below.
