Jasprit Bumrah has so far taken 21 wickets in three matches of the ongoing BGT 2024-25.

India captain Rohit Sharma has lavished rich praise on vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah, thanks to his brilliance in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25. Bumrah has been carrying the Indian bowling unit and played a huge role in India’s win in the first test in Perth.

Bumrah captained India in the absence of Rohit Sharma and led India to a massive 295-run win in the first test in Perth Stadium. He also starred with the ball, taking eight wickets in the test including a fifer in the first innings.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma mirrored the thoughts, lavishing praise on the bowler for his performances in the BGT 2024-25 thus far.

In the midst of a drawn series, Bumrah has been India’s shining light, as the pacer continues to inflict agony on his opponents and their wickets, scaring the Australians at will.

It’s very easy not to say anything. He knows exactly what he’s doing, and how he operates is very plain and simple. He doesn’t try to complicate things with his own stuff and keeps it nice and simple. He’s got so much belief in his own skillset that there’s not much discussion needed with him,” Rohit stated about Bumrah in a pre-match presser in Melbourne.

I’ve been watching him for a long time and have captained him for a long time. So, I know what he’s trying to do. It makes it easier for me not to think too much while he’s bowling, only because he’s so clear in his mind. Whether he gets wickets or he doesn’t, he’s so confident and that in return gives me more confidence during the game and lets me know that there’s nothing much for me to add,” he added.

“The impact that he’s had…”- Rohit Sharma hails Jasprit Bumrah

Not only the Perth test, but Bumrah has so far scalped 21 wickets at an astounding average of 10.90 in the ongoing test series Down Under. The rest of India’s bowling attack has taken 26 wickets at an average of 36.81. He picked five wickets in the Adelaide test and took nine wickets in the Brisbane test, including a best of 6/76.

“When he’s at his best form, the jobs of the other bowlers also become easier, as all they need to do is to just try and maintain that pressure, to be honest. The impact that he’s had on the series so far has been massive, and I hope he continues to do that because these next two games are very important for us,” Rohit Sharma said.

Jasprit Bumrah will be the man for the Indian team when they take on Australia in the fourth test at MCG, Melbourne, starting on December 26.
