Rohit Sharma has been criticized for defensive captaincy in the ongoing BGT 2024-25.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has expressed confidence in India’s bowling attack ahead of the fourth test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 in Melbourne.
India started the series strongly with a convincing 295-run win in the Perth test. The Indian seamers, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Harshit Rana, played a key role in dismantling the Australian batting lineup on a green wicket.
However, the Indian bowling attack appeared to lose its momentum in the next two tests in Adelaide and Brisbane, conceding huge first innings totals in both matches.
Jasprit Bumrah has been the standout fast bowler for India, leading the wicket-takers’ chart with 21 wickets in six innings. The other Indian bowlers, however, have not been able to make a similar impact so far. Australian batters, particularly Travis Head, have aggressively targeted the other bowlers to accumulate quick runs.
Despite the lack of support, Rohit Sharma has expressed satisfaction from the efforts of Indian bowling unit.

Speaking to the media ahead of the Melbourne test, Rohit expressed confidence in the Indian bowling attack and praised Mohammed Siraj for his attitude throughout the tour.
Rohit said, “I have confidence and faith in them. The attitude is what matters to me. And Siraj has really shown great attitude on this tour so far.“
Rohit also highlighted that the bowlers have been working hard to create opportunities, but they have been unlucky at times.
He added, “Those things can happen. For me as a captain, my messaging to them is very plain and simple. Keep running in hard and keep doing what you have been doing. They have done the job in past. It is not that they cannot do it now.“
India’s squad for fourth and fifth test: Rohit Sharma (c), Jasprit Bumrah (vc), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant (wk), Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna, Harshit Rana, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Devdutt Padikkal, Tanush Kotian
