Cameron Green is part of Australia squad for ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 final.
All-rounder Cameron Green is part of the Australia squad for the upcoming ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 final. The summit clash will be played between Australia and South Africa at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London and will commence on June 11.
Cameron Green has made a comeback to the test side after a gap of more than a year. He last played a test match for Australia during the New Zealand tour in February-March 2024. He showed a wonderful form during the two-match series and ended as the leading run-scorer. With one century across 4 innings, he slammed 238 runs at an average of 79.33.
With the ball, he clinched three wickets. However, after that, Green sustained a stress fracture, and then in October last year, he underwent back surgery. As a result, he missed a lot of time from the field before making his return to the national side for the ICC WTC 2023-25 final.
That is really special: Cameron Green on Jasprit Bumrah’s message
During a conversation with Cricbuzz, Green revealed that Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah reached out to him ahead of his surgery in October last year. The Indian pacer sent him a text message while he was busy with the home test series against New Zealand.
“That is really special. And makes you feel a lot better about it. I didn’t play with him in Mumbai but that was the connection through there. Spent a bit of time with him there,” he said.
Bumrah showed an incredible form in Australia during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25. He won the player of the series award and clinched the most wickets (32). Green noted that Bumrah’s performance in BGT 2024-25 after back surgery filled him with confidence.
“To get someone like him to reach out and then to watch him during the summer, to see how good he is obviously post-surgery, filled me with a lot of confidence,” he added.
Notably, Bumrah faced a back injury in September 2022 and then underwent surgery in 2023. He missed almost one year of action due to recovery. Due to the surgery, the right-arm pacer could not play for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 edition, during which Cameron Green was a member of the team.
