The second test between England and India will be played at Edgbaston, Birmingham.

The England Cricket Team revealed their squad for the second test against the India Cricket Team on Thursday, June 26. The hosts have named a 15-member squad for the second clash. The encounter will commence from July 2 at Edgbaston Cricket Stadium, Birmingham.

The Ben Stokes-led side leads the five-match series 1-0 after winning the opening encounter. The home team chased down the 371-run target with five wickets in hand on account of the match-winning century by Ben Duckett (149) in the second innings.

Notably, India witnessed five centuries by four of their batters in the high-scoring clash. They posted mammoth totals of 471/10 and 364/10 in both innings. However, the visitors failed to come up with a powerful bowling performance and could not stop the England batters from chasing down the target.

What changes have England made in their squad for second test against India?

In their squad for the second test, England have made just one change. They have added pacer Jofra Archer to their squad, and the rest of the squad remains the same. Notably, Archer has made a comeback in the test squad after four years.

England squad for 2nd test against India: Ben Stokes (C), Shoaib Bashir, Jacob Bethell, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Sam Cook, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Jamie Overton, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jamie Smith, Josh Tongue, Chris Woakes, Jofra Archer.

Meanwhile, Archer is highly likely to be part of the playing XI in the second test. England are short of key pacers like Mark Wood and Gus Atkinson due to injuries. In such a scenario, Archer’s return will be a big boost for the side. The right-arm pacer last played a test match in February 2021.

India’s tour of England comprises five tests. The series will conclude with the final encounter at The Kennington Oval, London, scheduled to be played from July 31 to August 4.
