Chennai Super Kings full list of coaching staff for IPL 2023
Four-time champions Chennai Super Kings have remained loyal to their support staff over the years.
Chennai Super Kings are among the top most successful teams in the league. CSK under MS Dhoni’s leadership has won four IPL crowns and have finished in the top 4 for 11 times out of 13 seasons they have played in the league.
Chennai is one team that is known for keeping their core strength intact. Chennai does not like to make a number of changes in their squad as well as in their support staff. Probably this is what provided them the success.
Not only in their squad, but CSK have also maintained a ‘not much change’ policy in their support staff as well. Former New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming has been serving as Chennai Super Kings head coach since the second IPL season (2009).
CSK’s support staff is filled with players who have represented the team in the IPL. From Stephen Fleming to Michael Hussey to Dwayne Bravo, they like to trust players who have been part of their setup and know the functioning of CSK as a franchise.
Not many teams in the league have adopted a similar strategy. Even in the squad, MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Ambati Rayudu, and a few others have been part of CSK for a very long period.
So far in IPL Chennai had played in 13 seasons. They missed out on two occasions (2016, 17) due to a two-year ban they faced. On 13 occasions CSK have played in the playoffs 11 times. CSK won their maiden Indian Premier League in 2010.
So far they have lifted the IPL title four times (2010, 2011, 2018 & 2021). Out of 11 Playoffs they have played in 9 finals, winning four and losing five times. Chennai in the last few occasions have also faced setbacks. In 2020 and 2022 they finished second last. In 2020 they ended up in 7th position and in 2022 they finished 9th out of 10.
