Watch: Chris Woakes cleans up Shubman Gill with a beautiful inswinger in ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023

Chris Woakes sent back Indian opener Shubman Gill for just 9 runs.
India and England are clashing in the 29th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 tournament. This encounter is being played at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow, on October 29, 2023.
India came into this match after winning all five of their matches thus far. On the other hand, England came into this match after losing four out of their five matches, including losses to Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.
Jos Buttler won the toss and chose to bowl first in Lucknow. He also revealed that England came into the game unchanged. India captain Rohit Sharma also said that India would’ve batted first if he had won the toss and the team was unchanged.
"We had a good time batting second. It's a new surface re-laid here, and it plays well all through. So we don't mind batting second. It's important to get those two points, and whatever it takes to do that, it takes. It's always nice to have a break; you get the time to reflect on where you stand. We are playing the same team that we played the last time,” Rohit said at the toss.
India opened with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. David Willey started with a maiden over to India's captain, who began cautiously.

Shubman Gill, on the other hand, looked more confident than Rohit Sharma and hit a beautiful boundary to get off the mark as well. He was looking quite set for a big one. However, a moment of carelessness cost him his wicket.
On the final delivery of the 4th over, Chris Woakes bowled a length ball, which nipped back into Shubman Gill. Indian batter, full of confidence, tried to play an expansive drive. But the ball beat his back while moving into the stumps and hit the middle stump.
