Ishan Kishan struck a century in the second round of matches of Duleep Trophy 2024-25.

The second round of matches in the Duleep Trophy 2024-25 concluded on Sunday in Anantapur. India A emerged victorious by 186 runs against India D, while the India C vs India B clash ended in a draw.

Barring Sarfaraz Khan, the rest of the India test squad members who have been picked for the first test against Bangladesh didn’t feature in the second round of the Duleep Trophy. Their absence provided opportunities to other players.

In this article, we will look at how the Indian players who have played international cricket fared in the second round of matches of the Duleep Trophy 2024-25.

Agarwal, who last played a test match in 2022, recorded scores of 7 and 56 while batting for India A against India D. He got out to part-timer Shreyas Iyer in the second innings and failed to convert his fifty into a century.

Left-handed batsman Tilak Varma showed his quality in this match by cracking a century in the second innings of India A. The youngster scored 111 unbeaten runs off 193 balls with the help of nine fours. His century pushed India A for a declaration, giving the bowlers enough time to bowl India D out in their second innings.

Once again Riyan Parag played a few attractive shots, but once again he failed to put on a big score. He got starts, scoring 37 and 20 runs, but couldn’t carry on for long. He picked up one wicket with the ball.

Prasidh Krishna

Lanky fast bowler Prasidh Krishna made his comeback after a long injury layoff. This was his first game since January. He picked only one wicket in the match.

Khaleel Ahmed

Left-arm seamer Khaleel Ahmed, who has played 29 white-ball international games for India, picked up a three-wicket haul in India D’s first innings and then took one wicket in the second innings. He had taken five wickets in the first round against India B.

Shreyas Iyer

The India D captain Shreyas Iyer, who had scored a half-century in the first round, got out for a duck in the first innings against India A here. He scored 41 runs in the second innings, but couldn’t prevent a loss for his side.

Iyer was dropped from the test team midway through the England series earlier this year.

Devdutt Padikkal

Left-handed batsman Devdutt Padikkal, who has played one test and two T20Is for India, played a brilliant knock of 92 runs in India D’s first innings but was dismissed for only one runs in the second innings.

Sanju Samson

Wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson managed scores of 5 and 40 in the second round of Duleep Trophy 2024-25 against India A. He played some cracking shots in his second innings, slamming three sixes and three fours and showcasing the use of his feet to great effect.

Arshdeep Singh

Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh, who was a key part of India’s title-winning ICC T20 World Cup 2024 campaign, was overlooked for uncapped Yash Dayal in the test squad to face Bangladesh. In the second round of the Duleep Trophy 2024-25, Arshdeep picked up two wickets against India A while bowling for India D.

India C captain Ruturaj Gaikwad recorded twin half-centuries against India B, scoring 58 and 62. However, the opener failed to convert any of them into a three-figure score.

Sai Sudharsan

Left-handed batsman Sai Sudharsan, who has played three ODIs and one T20I so far, played innings of 43 and 11 runs against India B.

Rajat Patidar

Rajat Patidar, who played three tests against England earlier this year, looked good in the second round of the Duleep Trophy as he scored 40 and 42. But the right-hander couldn’t capitalize on either of his starts.

Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan grabbed headlines this week. First, he was a late entry in the India C squad for the second round of the Duleep Trophy 2024-25 after missing the first round for India D due to an injury.

This was his return to first-class cricket after more than a year and he immediately showed his talent and skill by slamming a century. He made an attacking hundred, scoring 111 runs off 126 balls with 14 fours and three sixes.

Mayank Markande

Leg-spinner Mayank Markande, who has played one T20I for India, picked one wicket in India B’s only innings in this match.

Rinku Singh, who was not picked for the first round of Duleep Trophy 2024-25, failed with the bat in the second round as he was dismissed for six runs in the only innings he batted in.

Washington Sundar

All-rounder Washington Sundar had another forgettable outing in the Duleep Trophy 2024-25. After picking only two wickets and scoring nine runs in the first round, this time he failed to pick up a single wicket and scored only 13 runs with the bat.

R Sai Kishore

All-rounder Sai Kishore, who played three T20Is for India last year, went wicketless in this match and scored 21 runs with the bat.
