Rinku Singh didn’t play in the first round of the Duleep Trophy 2024 tournament.

Middle-order batter Rinku Singh is set to be part of the second round of matches in the Duleep Trophy 2024 tournament. The left-handed batsman wasn’t part of the first round of the competition.

Currently, Rinku is taking part in the UPT20 League, where he is captaining the Meerut Mavericks, but he will exit the squad to join India B for the remaining fixtures of the ongoing Duleep Trophy tournament. The second round of matches will be played from September 12 in Anantapur.

Extremely delighted to receive the call for the Duleep Trophy: Rinku Singh

On September 8, the BCCI announced a 16-man squad for the first test of the two-match series against Bangladesh, starting on September 19 in Chennai.

Dhruv Jurel and Yash Dayal were named into the Indian side and they will miss the second round of Duleep Trophy 2024. The duo played for India B in the first round.

After Yash Dayal and Dhruv Jurel’s selection in the Indian test squad, Rinku Singh was added as a replacement. India B won against India A by 76 runs in Bengaluru in the first round.

Rinku confirmed the development to the Times of India (TOI) about his inclusion in the ongoing domestic tournament.

Rinku further added that when the squads were initially announced for the Duleep trophy, he was left disheartened, but now he’s elated that he will be part of the squad for India B in the remaining fixtures.

“My job is to work hard, and I am extremely delighted to have received the call for Duleep Trophy. When the teams were initially announced, I was not selected. I wasn’t disheartened because my responsibility is to put in the hard work which I am doing. Today, I feel even more elated as I am here to represent India B in the prestigious Duleep Trophy,” Rinku Singh told TOI.

“As a captain, my team is at the pinnacle of the points table in UPT20 league. Now, the onus is on Madhav Kaushik’s shoulders to steer the team to victory. My experience in UP T20 League has been phenomenal,” Rinku added.

Further, right-arm medium pacer Aaqib Khan will join India A squad.
