Ravi Ashwin will be eyeing a bucketload of wickets against Bangladesh.
Veteran Indian cricketer Ravi Ashwin is regarded as one of the greatest bowlers and match-winners for Team India in test cricket.
The off-spinner has produced many memorable performances with the ball, which has helped India win the matches both home and away. He will be in action against Bangladesh this month.
The Indian cricket team are set to face Bangladesh in a two-match test series, starting on September 19 in Chennai. The two-match series will also mark the beginning of the home season of the Asian giants. The series between the two nations is part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25.

1. Needs 14 wickets to become highest wicket-taker in ICC WTC history

The 37-year-old Ravi Ashwin needs 14 more wickets to become the highest wicket-taker in ICC World Test Championship history.
Ashwin has played 35 WTC matches till now and picked up 175 wickets, He is currently the third-highest wicket-taker in the ICC WTC. Ahead of Ashwin are Australian pacer Pat Cummins (175) and spinner Nathan Lyon (187).
2. Needs 4 wickets to overtake Courtney Walsh and become eighth highest wicket-taker in tests

Ashwin is the ninth-highest wicket-taker in test cricket right now. The off-spinner has scalped 516 wickets in 100 test matches till now.
During the two-match test series against Bangladesh, Ashwin has a chance to overtake Courtney Walsh’s tally of 519 wickets. The Indian spinner just needs four wickets to surpass the legendary West Indies seamer.
3. Needs one 5-fer to break Nathan Lyon’s record of most (10) 5-fers in ICC WTC history

The 37-year-old Ashwin is on the verge of becoming the bowler with most 5-fers in ICC WTC history. Ashwin currently has taken 10 5-fers in ICC WTC history, which is joint most along with Australia’s Nathan Lyon.
With Australia not playing a test until home series against India later this year, Ashwin has the best chance to overtake Lyon and solely hold the record of most 5-fers in ICC WTC history.
