India vs England second test will take place from 2nd july at Edgbaston.
India Cricket Team are preparing for the second test against England Cricket Team, which will commence from July 2 at Edgbaston, Birmingham. According to reports by journalist Rohit Juglan of Revsportz, India are going to make multiple changes in their playing XI for the Edgbaston test.
The Shubman Gill & Co. lost the first test by five wickets as they failed to defend a 371-run target. England openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett built an opening stand of 188 runs, which set the platform for England’s victory in the match. Duckett played a magnificent knock of 149 runs to win the Player of the Match award.
Notably, four Indian batsmen slammed five centuries in the first test at Headingley, Leeds, helping the team to reach mammoth totals in both innings. However, Indian bowlers failed to present an equally impressive show, except for Jasprit Bumrah, who clinched a five-wicket haul in first innings.
Prasidh Krishna to retain his place, Jasprit Bumrah out of India’s playing XI in Edgbaston test- Reports
According to reports by Revsportz, India are going to rest Jasprit Bumrah in the second test. Moreover, Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna will retain their places in the playing XI. Pacer Akash Deep will be included into the playing XI. While, Shardul Thakur will be replaced by Nitish Kumar Reddy.
Krishna picked five wickets in the opening game, however, he was too expensive as he had an economy of over six in both innings. Siraj got two wickets in the first innings but went wicketless in the second innings. Shardul Thakur captured two wickets but leaked runs at a high economy rate.
Notably, Bumrah is going to be rested in two games out of five tests during India’s tour of England 2025 to manage his workload. Earlier, there were reports in Indian Express that the senior Indian pacer might be rested in the second test.
Meanwhile, Jofra Archer has been added to England’s squad for the second test, which comes as a big boost for the hosts in the absence of pacers Mark Wood and Gus Atkinson. Archer has returned to tests after four years. England lead the five-match test series 1-0.
