Internal politics in Rajasthan Cricket Association reason behind Ravi Bishnoi's switch from Rajasthan to Gujarat

Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi has so far represented India in 10 T20Is and a sole ODI.

Indian upcoming leg-spin sensation Ravi Bishnoi switched to Gujarat from Rajasthan for the upcoming Indian domestic season. Ravi Bishnoi announced his signing with Gujarat Cricket Association on Monday in an Instagram story and captioned it as ‘New beginning’. It is believed that Bishnoi was disappointed with the number of chances Rajasthan Cricket Association was providing him across formats from the Ranji Trophy to the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Now a few sources close to Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) claimed that Bishnoi was ill-treated by the management due to his absence from the activities hosted by Rajasthan Cricket Association.

Politics reason behind Bishnoi's switch

Sources close to the Association have disclosed to KhelNow that Bishnoi was not part of a few events hosted by the influential RCA office bearers as he used to stay away from things apart from his cricket. This made them irked and thus Bishnoi was not a regular member of the Rajasthan squad. Jodhpur-born Ravi Bishnoi played just one red-ball game so far in his career.

Bishnoi did get the opportunities with white-ball but still, he was not happy with the amount of game time he was getting at the RCA. Sources also claimed a few incidents when Bishnoi was ignored despite being an international player and an extra spinner was called in to play to make Bishnoi warm the bench for Rajasthan.

With all the disappointments Bishnoi had over the last few years, he decided to jump ship and shift his base to Gujarat. Ravi Bishnoi is currently in Ahmedabad for a 10-day camp of the Gujarat Cricket Association. Ravi Bishnoi has played 10 International T20I games and an ODI for Team India. Bishnoi was a member of the Under 19 World Cup side, in the last three years his career has seen a huge growth. Bishnoi is now looking to gain red-ball experience as much as he can to become an all-format player in international cricket.
