The Titans have won both times the two sides have locked horns in the IPL.

The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League begins with a titanic clash between defending champions Gujarat Titans and four-time winners Chennai Super Kings. GT vs CSK is scheduled to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

GT have added the likes of Kane Williamson and Shivam Mavi to their ranks, and have traded speedster Lockie Ferguson to KKR. CSK splurged on star English all-rounder Ben Stokes in the 2023 mini-auction. Last year’s revelation Mukesh Choudhary is recovering from a back injury and will miss the initial bit of the season for CSK.

Head-to-head for GT vs CSK

GT and CSK have faced each other twice, with the Titans emerging victorious on both occasions. They first locked horns at the MCA Stadium in Pune. After putting Chennai in to bat, Hardik Pandya’s men restricted CSK to a par score of 169/5.

Ruturaj Gaikwad stroked his way to a 48-ball-73 while Ambati Rayudu provided the finishing touches with a quickfire 46. Mohammed Shami caused havoc among the top order. Ending with 1-20. After a wobble, GT rode on David Miller’s heroic 94* and Rashid Khan’s late blitzkrieg to snare down the target with one ball remaining.

In the second clash between the teams at the Wankhede, CSK won the toss and stuttered to a paltry 133/5. Shami once again was lethal, while Alzarri Joseph bowled well. In reply, the Titans chased the target down on the back of Wriddhiman Saha’s unbeaten 67.
