Chennai Super Kings will be playing 7 home matches at MA—Chidambaram stadium in Chennai.

The IPL 2023 season will commence on March 31 with the opening match featuring the defending champions Gujarat Titans and four-time champions Chennai Super Kings. The southern outfit, who won their last title in 2021, had a disappointing season in 2022 and finished ninth in the table. However, the team has always been known for relying on experienced players and in the recent auction, they acquired Ben Stokes, an experienced player who can single-handedly turn the match.

CSK have the most playoff qualifications in the IPL and will be looking to make it to the last four once again this year, as they will be playing on their home ground after four years.

Fans are eagerly anticipating MS Dhoni's return to lead the team on the field. He is one of the most successful IPL captains of all-time, having led CSK to four IPL titles. With their experienced players and the addition of Stokes, CSK will be looking to regain their winning momentum and make their way to the top of the table once again.

IPL Group Details

The teams have been separated into two groups, but there is a slight alteration to the format. Every team will play against the teams in their group only once, while they will compete against the teams in the other group twice, both at home and away. Each team will play 14 matches during the league phase.

As CSK are a part of Group B, they will face the teams in the same group once during the tournament. In addition, they will face the teams from Group A twice.

IPL matches use a points system: 2 points are awarded for a win. The top four teams advance to the playoff. Qualifier 1 will be played between the top two ranked teams. The Eliminator is between third and fourth and Qualifier 2 is between the loser of Qualifier 1 and the winner of the Eliminator. The winners of Qualifiers 1 and 2 play in the Final.
