IPL 2023 Updated points table, Orange cap & Purple cap after Match 25 between SRH & MI
Mumbai Indians defeated SRH by 14 runs to win 3rd consecutive match in the IPL 2023.
In a fairytale start of his career, Arjun Tendulkar has defended 20 runs in the last over for Mumbai Indians. This was Arjun’s only second game in the Indian Premier League. Following his father’s footsteps Arjun did not crumble under pressure and helped MI in registering a hat-trick of wins after a long time. Arjun also picked up his first ever IPL wicket in the second last ball of the 20th over. He picked up Bhuvneshwar Kumar as his first IPL Wicket. Mumbai defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 14 runs. Invited to bat first, Mumbai posted a total of 192 runs. Chasing 193 runs, Hyderabad batters could not begin well. Hyderabad lacked a big partnership in this chase. Mumbai’s Cameron Green scored a fifty to help MI reach almost 200, Green scored 64 runs in 40 balls. Along with Green, Ishan Kishan (38), and Tilak Verma (37) played a few brilliant shots as well.

Mumbai Indians with a hat-trick of wins have now moved up to 6th place in the IPL 2023 Points table. Sunrisers Hyderabad with a third loss in their 5th game are placed in 9th position with only 4 points. Rajasthan Royals with 8 points in 5 games are top of the table, while Lucknow Super Giants with 6 points are second. Delhi Capitals are yet to open their account in the points table. DC have not won even a single game out of the 5 they played.

In terms of Orange Cap and Purple Cap, this clash brings no changes. Royal Challengers Bangalore Captain with his half century in last game will keep the Orange Cap with him for now. Faf with 259 runs in 5 innings is leading the Orange Cap race. Kolkata’s Number 3 Venkatesh Iyer will 234 runs in 5 innings is Number 2. Punjab captain Shikhar Dhawan missed the last game yet he is still in the top 5 with 233 runs in 3 innings. Shikhar is 3rd on the list. Shubhman Gill is at 4th position with 228 runs and David Warner with the same number of runs is 5th on the list.

The purple cap race is similar to what it was on Monday night after the Southern Derby. Rajasthan Royals' X-factor Yuzvendra Chahal is leading the race with 11 wickets in 5 games. Chahal won the Purple Cap in the IPL 2022. Chahal’s spin has troubled the RR’s opposition on many occasions since the previous season. No bowler from either MI or SRH could break into the Top 5. Mark Wood is 2nd and Rashid is 3rd in the race with 11 wickets each. Gujarat Titans pacer Md. Shami is 4th and CSK’s Tushar Deshpande is 5th with 10 wickets each.
