IPL 2024 auction: Fan-favourite Jimmy Neesham remains UNSOLD
Jimmy Neesham was part of Rajasthan Royals’ camp in the IPL 2023.
Kiwi all-rounder Jimmy Neesham was the first ever cricketer to opt out of a central contract from New Zealand and paved the way for others to decide the future on their own. Neesham has been a wonderful performer in T20 format and has been a consistent performer for sides he has represented in the various T20 leagues around the world. Neesham is yet to prove himself in Indian soil but he once again failed
Neesham has been a crucial cog in the wheel for Kiwis in the limited-overs format and played a magnificent part in each ICC event for Blackcaps. Neesham scored a fighting 58-run knock against Australia at HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala and almost took his team to winning position while chasing 389 runs. Despite a stellar performance, Neesham has failed to impress any bidder in IPL auction.
Jimmy Neesham is unsold in IPL 2024
New Zealand all-rounder Jimmy Neesham entered the IPL 2024 auction at a base price of 1.5 crores which was one of the main reason why he is without any IPL contract. Neesham’s name came late in the auction and by the time teams have already spent on their first-choice of players.
Jimmy Neesham in the IPL previously
Despite being a regular part of the franchises in the league, Jimmy Neesham has played only 14 games since he made his debut in IPL 2014 for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals). He played his first game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in IPL 2014. He didn’t have a memorable debut as he conceded 22 runs in his 2 overs spell and couldn’t get the opportunity to bat.
The 33-year-old all-rounder represented Delhi, Kings XI Punjab (Now Punjab Kings), Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. Neesham was part of Rajasthan Royals but was released from the contract in November 2023. In two seasons he represented Rajasthan only twice. Neesham played 14 IPL games in his career and has scored 92 runs in 10 innings. Neesham has taken only 8 wickets at an economy rate of 9.28.
