CSK defeated RCB by 6 wickets in the first match of IPL 2024.

Debutannt Rachin Ravindra’s quickfire 37 at the top of the order gave Chennai Super Kings (CSK) a winning start in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Rachin’s confident show with the bat set the tone for CSK against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the curtain raiser game played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. CSK chased down RCB’s modest total of 173 runs with ease to begin the season on positive note.

RCB had a decent start with skipper Faf Du Plessis (35) taking the charge at the forefront. But CSK debutant Mustafizur Rahman struck twice in his first over and put RCB in a spot of bother. Rahman bowled an impressive spell of 4/29 in his four overs. Bengaluru reached 173 at end of their 20 overs due to late flourish from wicket-keeper Anuj Rawat (48*) and Dinesh Karthik (38*).

Defending champions Chennai Super Kings had a winning start of the IPL 2024 season and earned two points in a vital game against RCB. RCB may have had a poor start of the season, but the fans will be expecting their side to follow what RCB Women’s team did in the second season of the Women’s Premier League. RCB Women’s won the WPL 2 defeating Delhi in the final.

Chennai Super Kings opened their account with two points in the IPL 2024 points table. With special batting efforts from Rachin Ravindra and Shivam Dube, Chennai’s net run rate is currently +0.779 after the end of the first match. RCB will need to rework on their strategy as CSK outclassed Faf Du Plessis’ side comfortably. CSK will play their next game against Gujarat Titans while RCB will take on Punjab Kings.
