Ashish Nehra is the head coach of GT in IPL 2025.

Gujarat Titans (GT) lost the Eliminator clash against Mumbai Indians (MI) of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The encounter took place at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Chandigarh on Friday, May 30. The defeat also ended GT’s journey in IPL 2025.

MI skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to bat first in the clash. MI openers Jonny Bairstow and Rohit Sharma gave a wonderful start to the batting. They registered a stand of 84 runs. With Sharma’s commendable 81-run knock, MI reached a mammoth total of 228/5 in the first innings.

Later, GT lost skipper Shubman Gill cheaply for 1 run. However, Sai Sudharsan kept the winning hopes alive with his wonderful 80-run knock. Washington Sundar also played a crucial knock of 48 runs. However, GT remained short of 21 runs for victory and finished with 208/6 in the end.

Notably, GT defeated MI in both matches during the league stage, however, they could not outplay them in the crucial Eliminator clash. The Titans’ defeat came as a heartbreak for their fans. After the defeat, GT head coach Ashish Nehra’s son got emotional and was seen crying in the stands.

The Shumban Gill & Co. finished at third spot in the points table after the league stage with 18 points. They made it to the playoffs after a fabulous victory over Delhi Capitals (DC) by 10 wickets in 60th match of IPL 2025.

Meanwhile, MI are one step away from reaching the final of IPL 2025. They will now clash with Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Qualifier 2 on June 1. The match will take place at the Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. The winner of the encounter will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the final on June 3.
