Jitesh Sharma and Sanju Samson will be fighting for the wicket-keeper’s spot in the India XI.
The Indian Cricket Team has begun their preparations for Asia Cup 2025. The tournament is all set to start on 9th September and the Men in Blue are putting in hard yards in Dubai since they reached there for the tournament.
The eyes will be on the playing XI that India will be fielding in their opening game of the tournament. The main talking point has been who will be the keeper-batter of the side, especially with Shubman Gill likely to bat in the top order. This means that keeper-batter will be there in the middle-order.
The choice will be between Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma. The former has done incredibly well with the bat over the last year. He slammed three centuries while batting as an opener and almost sealed the spot as an opener.
On the other hand, Jitesh Sharma, who is best suited in the middle-order, recently won Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). He did a fantastic job as a finisher and played a massive role in the side winning their maiden title.
With both performing well, there have been a lot of speculations about who will be playing for India in Asia Cup 2025. However, Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir dropped a massive hint during the practice session of the side.
First, Jitesh Sharma was seen doing the keeping practice, while Sanju Samson was sitting and watching his competition doing the job.
