LSG retain captain KL Rahul ahead of IPL 2024

Lucknow Super Giants have confirmed retaining captain KL Rahul for the upcoming IPL 2024.
Lucknow Super Giants have been at the forefront of the Indian Premier League retention window and they made a few big changes in their camp before the trading window closes down on 26th November. In another confirmation, Lucknow retained their captain KL Rahul and he is set to lead Super Giants in the upcoming IPL 2024 season next year. Rahul has led Lucknow since the inception of the franchise two years ago.
Lucknow Super Giants have confirmed KL Rahul’s name with a tweet. The Lucknow social media team made a post on X (formerly Twitter) with a notebook picture and KL Rahul’s name written as number 1 in the pic. Lucknow asked for suggestions from their fans before the IPL retention and trading window closing on Sunday. They have already let go of Romario Shepherd, and Avesh Khan and brought in Devdutt Padikkal into the team through a trading window.
KL Rahul led Lucknow successfully and took his IPL team to playoffs twice. Lucknow lost the eliminator game on both occasions and they finished 4th in the table. KL Rahul recently had a great ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 with the bat as well as with the gloves. Rahul is also a front-runner to lead the Indian side as he served as vice-captain of the team in the recently concluded World Cup 2023 after Hardik Pandya got ruled out mid season.
Lucknow to look for mentors and coach
Lucknow Super Giants will have to look for a new mentor and head coach as Gautam Gambhir and Andy Flower have parted ways with the franchise. Lucknow franchise is in talks with Rahul Dravid who served as Indian team head coach till the World Cup. Dravid’s tenure has ended and in case Dravid decides to not look for an extension, he may join Lucknow Super Giants as mentor for the upcoming season.
So far teams have made a few changes as Lucknow Super Giants traded Avesh Khan with Devdutt Padikkal from Rajasthan Royals. They have also let go of Romario Shepherd to Mumbai Indians. In a recent move, Royal Challengers Bangalore traded Shahbaz Nadeem with Mayank Dagar from Sunrisers Hyderabad. Shahbaz Nadeem had a successful year with RCB in the IPL 2022 but he failed miserably in the previous season.
