The altercation started after Nitish Rana slammed Digvesh Rathi for a six.
The Eliminator clash between South Delhi Superstarz and West Delhi Lions in Delhi Premier League 2025 was a heated game. Lions skipper Nitish Rana had a verbal altercation with Superstarzâs Digvesh Rathi during the match.
While bowling to Rana, Rathi pulled off at the final moment, which left the batter irritated. Later, Rana backed away while facing the next delivery. When Rathi finally bowled, Rana slammed him for a six with a reverse sweep. After hitting the six, Rana teased Rathi by imitating his notebook celebration.
This led to a verbal altercation between both the players. As both of them charged towards each other, the on-field umpires and players stopped them and brought the situation under control.

The fights did not stop after the incident. Later, Aman Bharti dismissed Krish Yadav in the match. After the dismissal, there was a verbal altercation between Sumit Mathur and Yadav.
Talking about the match, West Delhi Lions won the encounter by seven wickets to reach Qualifier 2. South Delhi Superstarz posted 201/5 in the first innings, with half-centuries by Anmol Sharma and Tejasvi Dahiya. Sumit Mathur scored an unbeaten 48 runs.
However, Nitish Rana hammered an unbeaten 134-run knock off just 55 balls to drive West Delhi Lions to victory. He was also adjudged as Player of the Match.
Following the conclusion of the game, Digvesh Rathi (80% of match fees), Nitish Rana (50% of match fees), Aman Bharti (30% of match fees), Sumit Mathur (50% of match fees) and Krish Yadav (100% match fees) were fined by the DPL authority for breaching various code of conducts in the encounter.
West Delhi Lions will now clash with East Delhi Riders in Qualifier 2. The encounter will be played on August 30 at Arun Jaitley Stadium. The winner of the encounter will face Central Delhi Kings in the final on August 31.
